A route of independent houses

Here, the house is more than a place to sleep. Its architecture, the hospitality of the people who run it and its relationship with the land are part of the experience, and the differences from one house to the next are what make it worth travelling between them.

You can stay in a single house, link several stages or travel the whole route, from Holbox to Bacalar or the other way round. Route ideas, with transfers and stops along the way, are in Plan your trip.

These are small-scale projects, with architecture rooted in its place and people close at hand who shape the way guests are welcomed. The surroundings become part of the stay: at the table, in the materials, in the region’s crafts and in the advice of people who know the area.

Each house opens up a different side of the peninsula:

• in Holbox, life on an island of sandy streets, from a beachfront villa remade by its owners;
• in Espita, the everyday life of a Yucatecan village, from a restored casona with a table of local produce and its own kitchen garden;
• in Seyé, the scrub forest and the cenotes, with suites spread across the land and birds to watch from the terrace;
• in Campeche, the walled city seen from within, in restored houses with their courtyards;
• in Bacalar, the slow pace of the lagoon, from cabins on stilts among the trees.

Each house page tells its story and introduces the people behind it.

Each project keeps its own identity, team, rates and way of welcoming guests. This site presents the houses and their surroundings and suggests ways to combine them. Bookings are made directly with each house; Las Casas de la Península does not process bookings or payments.
